Synonym: Tefidet Gr; Equivalent(s): Correlates well with the Tégama Gr of the Iullemmeden Basin. Also, in the Kandi Sub-Basin of Benin and Nigeria, petrified wood has been found in the Lower Cretaceous Sendé Fm, which is similar to those found in the Tégama Gr /Téfidet Gr (Konaté, 1996; Konaté, 2003 & 2006).
Lithology and Thickness
Sandy continental group, belonging to the Continental Intercalaire and containing silicified woods and clayey levels with nodules or thin calcareous lenses and vertebrate bones. The following formations have been defined within the group, from top to bottom, with characteristic fossils (see each formation for more details):
- Tanguérat Fm, with coarse and fine sandstone (silicified wood);
- Tagrezou Fm, with clay and fine sandstone (vertebrates);
- Coarse sandstone Angornakouer Fm (silicified wood).
Thickness exceeds 600 m.

Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Precambrian is below
Upper contact
Overlain by the Alanlara Fm (Figure)
[Figure. Two structural cross-sections located in the southern (bottom) and central (top) parts of the Téfidet trough. These show that the Téfidet trough is a graben-shaped Sub-Basin. The sedimentary infilling is deformed into an asymmetric syncline associated with progressive unconformities (Modified after Konaté et al., 2019).]
Regional extent
East of the Aïr.
